June 25 - July 6, 2012
Summer Stars Circus Camp
for children ages 7-14
The camp day begins at 10am and ends at 3pm. This is a general skills camp with a focus on learning and progressing in all circus skills: tumbling, acrobatics, juggling, unicycle, rolling globes, balance board, tight wire, mini trampoline, aerial arts and clowning. The day begins with a warm up game and then campers are grouped according to ability as they move through skill stations to provide both time & challenge needed to make satisfying progress.
In this camp the ever-creative Circus Community comes alive. During the second week campers will build a circus performance from the ground up to be shared with family, friends and the extended community on the last day of camp. They will construct the show by polishing skills of choice, choosing a theme together, creating characters & acts and selecting musical accompaniment. One week $300 or two week $550 option available (10% discount for registration before June 1 and for second child sibling) Transportation from Egremont MA by request and depending on space availability for $25. per week
Both camps will be held at the Hawthorne Valley School! Taught by Jill Fleming and Laura Geilen - Each day of circus activity also includes a strengthening warm up and a lunch break outdoors with time for social games or to cool our toes in the Akawamuck brook. Both Jill and Laura are trained Waldorf/Spacial Dynamics Movement Educators & certified in CPR/First Aid.
